The sky is a poisonous sepia that rains down radiation, the ground sprouts up skulls like horrid little mushrooms, and the horizon is forested with twisted metal and stone buildings reaching for the heavens like the pleading hands of repentant sinners. Disease and mutants stalk the land and the rape happy cannibals are the least of your worries. This is the post apocalypse and there is only one radio station still on the air.

Where the hell has the time gone, boys and girls? Where has it fled to? Bags packed, overcoat tucked about itself, and hat slouched low, scurrying away like some sneak thief in the night. Where has my delicious little time fled?

That’s the motto of my life, it seems. Where’d the time go? I constantly wonder, eyes blinking blearily at the bright light streaming into my window. What day is it? Where am I? (though the latter thought only comes after a hard night’s drinking).

I’m still alive and I’m still kicking.

Projects are still moving ahead and I’m beginning to realize after six months of sporadic blogging being behind and vowing to keep not get behind again is something I do about every other week.

Project Zed is finally kicked off once again.

All Manner of Bad has been plotted out and is being hammered at.

Bitterwater Tales will make it’s come back, how long I’ll be able to keep it up, that’s up to the gods to decide.

The others, the AH.com series? Well, an episode is being written and titlecards are being plotted out. There is just too little time it seems to take everything into account.

Like this blog, where my words are supposed to reach out and hug folk, that’s been long neglected. So, I’m back to square one, head full of pain and ears ringing from music that never leaves my side.

It’s the dirge of my life, but a good kind of dirge, one you can dance too, not that depressing honking noise.  It’s time to write, draw, and rock on.

Hope you’re doing the same.

Leaving ya with a bit of music.

Restart Reset, Take Two

Posted in LIfe & Times, Work by Alex on June 7, 2010 No Comments yet

I’m the kind of person who believes in resetting and restarting.

Ideas, events, and happenings tend to clog up the work processes.  I tend to find myself after several weeks being a bit stressed about all the things that need some of my attention and knowing that I’ve only got a handful of hours to deal with them daily.  After a time, that tends to lead to delays, skip days, and majorly late postings. I’m not a fan of those.

So it comes to a point where I’ve just have to say: “Right, time to chill out for a bit, plot and plan a bit more, and then restart the process all over again.”

Right now seems a good place as any to reset and restart.

I’ve just finished 400 strips of All Manner of Bad, which is pretty impressive seeing as the comic was began more of less on a whim. It’s been a long year and a half and the last month has been pushing my abilities to handle both the day job, life, and writing/drawing during the evenings.

I’m going to take a week off of All Manner of Bad to give some much needed attention to both the AH.com series and Bitterwater Tales, along with the stagnating novel I’ve been planning since October of last year. Enough planning on that one, it needs to be written.

All Manner of Bad will resume on June 14 and once again it’ll be a five day a week updating schedule. I like the whole seven days a week updating, but sadly the whole time factor has become an issue. The last few updates have been rushed and a lot of recycled artwork has been tossed up to fill it out, that from the perspective of a guy who wants to continue to hone his artistic skills is not a good thing.

I’ve been writing the AH.com series for the last five years (Yup, FIVE YEARS), and lately it’s been taking a big back burner to all the other things in life that I need to do.  After helping create the series and being one of the writer chimps who’s written a large number of episodes, I find that I should give it more time and help it grow once more. That includes the website, which I’ve been lax in updating and expanding. The whole character profiles has been in the work for… nearly a year now.

Bitterwater Tales has become one of those dreams I wish to pursue, but the world seems to conspire against me and the poor site tends to move forward a bit and then slumps backward once more. The updates are erratic, they have the feeling of being rushed, and all those things I don’t like. Bitterwater Tales was to be the site where I post all the other stories that fill my mind. It was to be a place where I could better my writing skills, making short concise stories that showcase other aspects of storytelling. Lately it’s merely become a dumping ground of hastily finished stories and old work that would never get published.

The goal here is to better my drawing and writing abilities. Even this blog has a purpose.  It’s not just providing information and happenings in my own attempts at writing and drawing, it’s also to help learn a style of writing, in short essays and articles. Later on I wish to begin writing reviews of music, books, movies, and all those things that I enjoy consuming.

But for now, exhaustion is elephant in the room and it’s been there for a while now. Reset and restart, begin with fresh eyes and a lighter load.

Here’s to.
